Episode 1: Birdman

For our premiere episode, we review Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance) starring Michael Keaton as the titular character—a washed up movie star who’s trying to make a comeback on Broadway while haunted by the iconic character he’s known for.

We dive in to Michael Keaton’s filmography (but somehow forget to mention Beetlejuice) and Alan accidentally makes the first incorrect statement of the show.

  • Condorman came out in 1981 and is not affiliated with this film
  • Keaton plays Ray Nicolette in both Jackie Brown (1997) and Out of Sight (1998)
  • Tim Burton’s Batman opened on August 11, 1989 in the UK
  • Kick-Ass was a comic written by Mark Millar and illustrated by John Romita, Jr. from 2008–2010 and was made in to a film in 2010 directed by Matthew Vaughn
  • Batman Returns was released in 1992
  • Birdman opens with a limited release October 17, 2014 and adds a bunch more cities on October 24
